Fun Ways to Get Involved in Your Community

Here at Tri County Pallet, we love doing everything we can to stay involved in our community. After all, nothing feels better than giving back to your own community when it is in need. Below listed are a few organizations that you can get involved with in the Akron community.

Something coming up very soon in the Akron community is the sorting of all of the donations from the Stuff the Bus in Summit County. Generous donations were given to help North Highschool and grades K-6th. Now that the donations have been collected, it is time to sort them for the schools. Register to volunteer on August 12, 2022, between 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 12:00 pm -3:00 pm. You can register here.

Keep Akron Beautiful - Litter Clean Up

A beautiful community is something that anyone living in Akron wants. Keep Akron Beautiful (KAP) is an organization dedicated to keeping Akron clean and sprucing it up for the community to enjoy. KAP has picked up 204,940 pounds of garbage, planted 34,041 flowers, cleaned 33 graffiti sites, and has 26,927 hours of volunteer work from the community.

The litter clean-up is a great way for you to get involved with the organization and community. They provide gloves, litter grabbers, trash bags, and hand sanitizer. KAB does ask its volunteers to dispose of the litter on their own in an appropriate manner. Register here!

The Summit County Historical Society

The Summit County Historical Society of Akron is looking for volunteers of any age to get involved with one of their many volunteer projects. This includes tour hosts, gardening, gift shop greeters, and office assistants, as well as help for special projects, cleaning, research, special events, and exhibit setup.

Tour hosts will give assistance to self-guided tours of the John Brown House and Perkins Stone Mansion. To help out with gardening, you can help out with the flower beds on Mutton Hill. Gift shop greeters will help with ticket sales, manage merchandise, and aid visitors in beginning their tours of historic homes. Office assistants help to file and organize documentation in the Society Office.

The Summit County Historical Society works on different projects throughout the year, which you can be a part ofโ€“ they are always looking for special events with the many activities that they host. Click here for more information on how you can get involved!
