The Importance of Being a Family/Community-Based Business

At TCP we are proud to be a local, family-owned business, this is an integral part of our story because it is something that runs deep within ourselves. Family businesses and community-based businesses are essential for many reasons, and we’re here to tell you why.

Benefiting the Local Economy

A big part of being a family-owned, community-based business is that you introduce yourself to others who are the same as you. Supporting other small businesses instead of bigger corporations is a great way of supporting the local economy and community. Creating a need and shopping local means that you may also inherently be creating jobs in your community as well, so, it’s a win-win!

Innovation Never Stops

Innovation is important, especially for smaller businesses. There are so many different brands and corporations out, so doing something different or offering something (like the pallet jockey program) that others aren’t quite doing is a big perk. Plus, if you’re shopping around the area you will notice the amount of innovation that is happening with small businesses.

Community Involvement

This may be obvious, but being involved in your community as a community-based family business is extremely important. Local businesses all share a common understanding, and will always support and help where they need to. This idea is similar to our mulch service. We are able to provide wholesale mulch to local landscapers, and this is a great way to connect to our community and support those who are doing their own thing, too.

Environmentally Friendly

A common thing with most community-based businesses is that they are typically good at being environmentally conscious. They preach supporting smaller businesses instead of big corporations and they may opt for paper instead of plastic straws if we’re talking about a coffee shop. At TCP we recycle pallets into mulch, these pallets typically can’t be used for anything. So, instead of throwing them out, we create another life for them!

TCP has and always will be centered around the idea of our community and being a family business. These are our roots, and whatever way that we can support those in our community, we will.
